Thus, after his cartoons and flora, he introduced his female figures into his canvases only in the late 1970s. With his signature cubistic folds and thick limbs, Malang portrayed his women sitting and huddling in darkness. Moreover, his reputation as a master colorist is evident in his layering of bright colors over a dark background, which gives his figures an illuminating glow. This coloring technique, however, evokes a hushed yet suspenseful atmosphere as the trio appears to be running and hiding from the unknown.
