The kaleidoscopic fusion of colors and form conjures up images of a bon vivant life, a life that the well-traveled artist had led himself.

This pair of blue abstractions recalls Zalameda’s sailboat works, with the blue waves and the triangles for sails. Likely, this scene is inspired by the scenic coast of the European continent, but it is just as likely that it is a flotilla from his hometown of Lucban. Indeed, this is what makes Zalameda an ever-enduring artist — his unique combination of the Western and the Filipino evokes a certain romantic quality to his works and bestows upon them the exuberance of the foreign and the familiar.
