This event marked yet another turning point in his artistic journey as introduced him to Victor A. Lim, the president of Republic Glass Corporation (now Asahi Glass Philippines). The latter recognized Orlina's talents and offered him a scholarship to study glassmaking abroad. However, Orlina politely declined and instead asked Lim to let him study glassmaking at their facilities, to which the president readily agreed. Thus, with the company's engineers and technicians' help and the liberty to use their materials and equipment, Orlina began sculpting glasses. <br><br> Aside from his artistic vision and forged relationship with glass, it is also his kind soul that solidified his name in the art scene. This kindheartedness is evident in his interactions with people around him and also manifests in his works. Ning-Ning XVII is a carved republic-asahi glass, a tribute to both motherhood and his early beginnings in glass sculpting. Dated 1990, this creation is part of his Ning-Ning series, a collection of glassworks depicting a female breast, which draws inspiration from the sight of his two- year-old daughter still breastfeeding, and whose nickname the series was named after. Therefore, Orlina's Ning-Ning series invariably pays homage to the beauty of motherhood, from pregnancy and childbirth to the joy of watching them grow.
