Fully embracing the artistic philosophy of stripping down the elements to essentials, where the brown ground and irregular blue shape classes create a stark contrast—a dynamic equilibrium. Dated to 1999, Luz showcases an abstraction in which the blue dominates the canvas.

However, its color is modulated and atmospheric, while earthy brown shades act as a grounding counterweight to the eye-catching color of the former. The jagged boundary between the colors creates a tension throughout the abstraction, further pushing Luz’s interest in geometry derived from observation but reduced to essentials. Exemplifying his mature modernist language: quiet, intellectual, disciplined yet visually evocative.
