From splattered, dripped, and pooled paint that provide kinetic movement to embedded solids that scatter on the ceramic—essentially introducing rhythm and echoing the plate’s overall shape — Abstract Plate continuously showcases a visual interplay between control and accident. Despite being non-representational, Joya—creating works that express the energy of nature— aims to reflect that energy, evoking abundance, decay, and transformation, effectively turning a mundane plate into a visual masterpiece.
