It was here that he got the idea for his barong-barong paintings, which started a trend in Philippine painting.” <br/> <br/>This 1945 watercolor painting shows rows of shanties along the banks of the Pasig River, a ubiquitous sight in post-war Manila. It is one of Manansala’s earliest barong-barong paintings, painted on the spot, pointing out to its small dimensions.
