Transforming the image of loss and grief into a powerful representation of communal solidarity. In an image of a funeral procession with a group of townspeople carrying the carozza in unity, Francisco conveys the willingness of a Filipino community to share one another’s burdens through his artwork. Despite the lack of color, the artwork maintains its emotional strength, as the gaze is drawn instead to the expressions, gestures, and physical effort of the mourners. Each and every figure in the procession contributes to honoring the deceased as the carriage rests on their shoulders. Essentially symbolizing shared responsibility, compassion, and respect. Reminder that even in the time of loss, the strength of the community endures.
