As is the case with this piece, Malang depicts a close-up of a plant, its leaves shooting up and about in all directions. Here, he paints impressionistically, being more interested in translating the plant’s vivacious energy than in capturing it as close to life as possible. His vivid sense of colors elevates this piece of work, creating an extravagant burst of aesthetic beauty as befits a master at the peak of his artistic prowess.
