He expresses quiet psychological states through his human figures while exploring the themes of identity, vulnerability, and the human condition.

Featuring a woman seated as she wraps herself in a cloth that conceals her face and form, Cabrera immediately paints a sense of privacy, grief, or self-defense—as if the subject is protecting herself from the harsh environment she finds herself in. Her bent posture and covered face encourage a feeling of empathy, as the use of drapery perfectly paints the masterpiece as a powerful meditation on vulnerability, identity, and the personal act of seeking comfort and protection from the cold and harsh outside world.
