One that’s known for its expressive color, cubist forms, and focused emphasis on atmosphere rather than realistic representation, perfectly capturing the celebration of community and harmony, as well as the emotional energy of people coming together.

Presenting an abstracted image of a group of women gathered in a communal setting, in a fragmented explosion of colors, Vitalis simplified the human figures into loosely defined geometric blocks to encourage an implied focus on the collective of women in the scene rather than on the individual identities of the women. The composition itself feels dense and interconnected, which immediately establishes a sense of closeness or companionship between the subjects. At the same time, the bright color palette creates an energized, lively, and peaceful atmosphere—a perfect mood to establish the warm feeling of community.

Rather than striving for realism in presenting a literal community, Vitalis’s dynamic masterpiece Riunione di donne insists on experiencing the collective feeling of community. His expressive painting—from color, movement, and abstraction—brings out the emotional vitality and social cohesion of everyday life. Transforming a simple gathering into a dynamic visual harmony.
