His impressive ability to grasp and excel across different styles and mediums is highly evident in his works, leaving the audience in awe at his range of talents.

Born in Lucban, Quezon, Zalameda's artistic journey began with his idyllic watercolor paintings reminiscent of his merry childhood and the bounteous landscape and culture of his hometown. However, upon the influence and encouragement of his mentor, Vicente Manansala, Zalameda delved into cubism.

Zalameda's travels abroad, mainly spent at sea, exposed him to a diverse range of cultures and traditions, as well as to different art styles and media. He also became acquainted with people from high society, connections that allowed him to indulge his love for the waters.

Thus, his creative evolution, shaped by numerous art expeditions, experiences, and fateful encounters, resulted in Zalameda's distinctive gem-toned, cubistic style and compositions that blend his personal experiences and artistic expression.

This untitled work features Zalameda's recurring themes: life at sea. However, rather than his misty sailboats and lavish lifestyle, it depicts hardworking fishermen. In view are three fishermen, each of them carrying a large bucket, filled to the brim with their bountiful catch. Despite leaving the figures' faces blank, their exhaustion is palpable. We could almost see the sweat trickling down their bodies and hear their labored breathing as they lifted the heavy baskets.

An abstract piece with crystal-like aesthetics, in which each element—line, shape, and color—is cleverly placed, this untitled piece is a testament to Zalameda's unparalleled artistry and mastery of his craft. His profound knowledge of colors enabled him to wield a range of tones and values, all the while skillfully filling in the intersecting planes of his subjects.

Oscar Zalameda's works have been the centerpiece of numerous exhibitions in major museums and galleries and have found their way into many significant private collections across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. His artistic prowess has been acknowledged with numerous awards and recognitions. Notably, he was the first Filipino artist to hold a one-man exhibition at the Palacio Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico in 1965. The following year, in 1966, then First Lady Imelda Marcos honored Zalameda with a personal exhibition at the Malacañang Palace.
