However, more than an articulation of artistry, Reyes is equally interested in the process of creation and the emotions and memories it evokes. His works are best described as “soulful,” overflowing with sincerity and cathartic release as Reyes encourages rumination upon his magnificent pieces. <br><br> His 2025 Infinitum II perfectly encapsulates the artist’s philosophy in art and creation. Evoking one half of the phrase “ad infinitum,” which translates from Latin to mean “forever” or “to infinity,” Infinitum II depicts a young woman sitting back-to-back to her mirror image. She sits a good distance away from her doppelgänger who, like her, sits with her back slouched and her feet extended forward as though exhausted. It is hard to know who is the original and who is the copy, but perhaps that does not matter, as Reyes depicts the two blurring into one another. Perhaps one could argue they are melding into one being, but the other camp could argue for the opposite: that the girls are separating, creating an image for themselves. Behind them is the word infinitum in script. <br><br> It is this enduring mystery that captivated many when viewing the works of Reyes. His visuals have negative space that invites silent tranquility and meditative analysis that feels personally tailored to each and every viewer. In Infinitum II, like every one of his pieces, he gives space to the audience to ruminate upon the painting, providing a bubble of silence amidst the fast-moving world we live in.
