Creating a work of art that is playful and also mixed decorative qualities that made his painting festive and dreamlike.

Organized like a patchwork of interlocking shapes where large areas of orange, black, brown, and cream build up the structure while the black lines outline one form from another, Malang creates a noticeable figure of an elongated woman made up of a few long curved shapes while holding a tray of either fruits or flowers. The shapes are reduced to pure geometric forms that simplify their appearance through overlapping planes while maintaining their recognizable identity. The result is a wonderful yet very controlled composition that feels both cheerful and decorative. A folk-like masterpiece that turns ordinary Filipino life into something festive and dreamlike.
