Dominated by a heavily textured surface of metallic silver contrasted by bronze tones, Arce’s composition presents an ornate frame that is heavily distorted on the other side of the canvas—as if melted to create curves, strands, and sweeping ridges that clash with the organized and relatively flat side of the portrait.
