Arro plays on legendary icons in Western popular culture – The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and James Dean, among the artist’s most famous works. Arro’s depiction of these icons ranges from the seemingly psychedelic (The Beatles) to the juxtaposition of complementing and influential forces in popular culture (Marilyn Monroe and James Dean; Pop Art Pop Music). According to Cid Reyes, these iconic personalities “are immuned from the Warholian fifteen minutes of fame.” These portraits of beloved icons – whether in film or music – serve as odes to their timeless fame and legacy that transcend beyond the peripheries of nations and cultures. Aside from his regular exhibits in the Philippines, Arro has participated in international exhibitions such as Art Apart (2017) in Singapore and Affordable Art Fair (2015 – 2019) in Hong Kong. He has regularly been featured in local, national, and international publications, including SunStar, The Philippine Daily Inquirer, Contemporary Art Magazine of the Philippines, Elite Magazine, and Asian Art News.
