Utilizing loose, spontaneous brushstrokes to give detail to the trunks and branches—essentially transforming a group of dead trees into an atmospheric study of nature through color and expressive brushwork, highlighting silence and solitude while revealing a more contemplative side. The painting captures the lyrical characteristics of Ang Kiukok’s early watercolor period—a practice influenced by his training under Vicente Manansala while studying at the University of Santo Tomas.
