In a style that is quite reminiscent of a comic illustrator (to whom Yonzon, Jr. owes his artistic roots), this piece depicts the maximalism of a Filipino sari-sari store. As a man works behind the counter, he hands the woman on the\nother side the brown paper bag, full and bursting. All around them are overflowing items, the common goods one can buy in many such stores. The light and shadows fall in a harsh, cubist style, creating a unique visual language that combines Yonzon Jr.’s varied artistic background. It is a testament to the artist’s virtuosity, a talent that his contemporaries praised throughout the years.
