But what makes it an enrapturing\nplace are the countless rock formations in its coastline, some of which date back to\nancient times. The roughness of its coastline complements the crashing waves of\nthe Atlantic, making Brittany a utopia for anyone who wants to find seclusion from\npersonal and societal setbacks.

\nHis penchant for his surrealist landscape paintings of Brittany was a result of his\nindebtedness to the place. It ushered him to discernment, a place wherein he\nperfected and defined his style. Memory is an indispensable element in Sansó’s\nartworks, as expressed by Rodolfo Paras-Perez. According to him, Sansó’s Brittany\nSeries is “structurally as simple as a Haiku poem”. Usually depicted in his paintings\nare three or four strips of rock formations pressed against a backdrop of a sky\nwith blue or orange hues interwoven on the canvas. In this particular painting,\nSansó perfectly captures the essence of what he “digested and filtered”. The\nintricate details of the rock formations with a backdrop of a clear and serene day\nthat complements the tranquil ocean give us a glimpse of how Sansó highlights\nmemory as a vital force in his paintings, which in turn leaves a mesmerizing quality.","lot_group":"PAINTING","lot_details_html":"
Juvenal Sansó (1929 - 2025)
Know Endlessly (Brittany Series)
signed (lower right)
ca 1970s
acrylic on canvas
24” x 28 1/2” (61 cm x 72 cm)
","alias":null,"hp":1200000,"bp":0.168,"isWithdrawn":0,"accounting_hp":1200000,"userBid":5926,"isPaid":0,"userId":22,"lot_status":"SOLD","isDone":1,"bid_history_id":null,"reserve_price":0,"hammer_price":1401600,"fav":0},"image":[{"id":20389,"img_url":"https://leongallery.sgp1.digitaloceanspaces.com/v2/auction/25/44/lot/104.jpg","isFeatured":1}]},"increment":[900000,1000000,1100000,1200000,1300000,1400000,1500000,1600000,1700000,1800000,1900000,2000000,2200000,2400000,2600000,2800000,3000000,3200000,3400000,3600000,3800000,4000000,4200000,4400000,4600000,4800000,5000000,5500000,6000000,6500000,7000000,7500000,8000000,8500000,9000000,9500000,10000000,11000000,12000000,13000000,14000000,15000000,16000000,17000000,18000000,19000000,20000000],"prev":103,"next":105,"count_bid":0,"bid_history":[],"tokenExpired":1}
