The physical and emotional connection\nshared by the artist and their lover has catalyzed the former’s\nvirtuosic ingenuity. Being a painter herself, Emma Navarro\nunderstood the indispensable artistry and aesthetics of nude\npainting. Because she modeled exclusively for his husband, Jerry\nElizalde Navarro, in the private realms of their studio, she had\nno reservations and did not become hesitant with regards to\nflaunting her body in a state of nature.
\nNavarro’s collage-work Keeping Abreast with the Joneses exhibits\nthe female breast as a series of developing and intensifying\nshapes, with the nipples used as directional signs, pointing\ntowards a full figure of a female silhouette. This silhouette would\neventually become an archetype in his nude themes, juxtaposed\nagainst interlacing geometric shapes.
