It represents his distinctive mantra of reminding himself that it is\nthrough experiencing all the necessary toiling that he can achieve all his\nburning desires as an artist. Ruiz had expounded on the meaning of this\nparticular piece: “I have used this triptych to ruminate on these overlapping\nstruggles, the ones we have for survival, the ones we have for communication,\nthe one we have for getting from place to place. I have taken anatomical\nrendering of the physical properties utilized in all the aspirations I have\nruminated on and juxtaposed them with specters of where they might apply.”<br /><br />\nSome of the juxtapositions of the Corazon, Lengua, Pie includes the intrepid\nand humane tenderness given to the impoverished pole dancer as she\nconfronts aggravation and oppression as a way to her humble dreams;\nthe multilingual talent of Jose Rizal that he used to convey and express his\nindividual and nationalist aspirations; and the sheer tension experienced by\na sprinter who, in a hopeful attempt to break speed records for honor and\ndistinction, dashes to shatter speed records. These are rendered by Ruiz in an\nallegorical manner as he sails through with great endeavor the rugged seas of\nthe artistic world.<br /><br />\nThis piece is the artist’s reminder to himself.
