This is particularly evident in his depiction of the common folk, such as market vendors, fishers, farmers, and flower vendors, with their fresh produce of floral ensembles, such as the one depicted in the work at hand. Here, Zalameda depicts a woman sitting with her back turned away from the viewer. She gazes from afar, with her fresh goods placed beside her. The woman's gesture seemingly shows her waiting for an array of curious customers to pass by her spot and happily engage with them; or perhaps, she is simply taking a quick break from her labor; or maybe even more on a philosophical or sociological note, she ponders on questions regarding her place in society as a woman worker. The work becomes sober, solemn, and meditative when viewed through this lens, adding a layer of expressiveness and vigor to the piece, thus transcending beyond the mundane.
\nZalameda employs the vibrancy of his palette to produce a striking work that captivates the viewer's attention to engage with the subject actively. The woman's expression and gesture, together with Zalameda's ingenious application of harmoniously cascading colors, invite us to look beyond the surface of the painting and let ourselves wallow in introspection.
