The \nwork at hand is an oil on canvas \ncollaborative piece that brings \ntogether notable Modernists that \nhelped define Filipino art in the 20th \nCentury.

\nIn the pursuit of the groundbreaking \nideals and aspirations that defined \nthe 20th century, Cesar Legaspi, \none of the Thirteen Moderns, played \na pivotal role in reshaping the local \nartistic landscape. Notably, he \nadapted the fundamental principles \nof cubism to harmonize with the \nunique language of Filipino art. This \ninnovative approach not only pays \ntribute to Cubism's storied roots but \nalso establishes a distinct technique \nthat unquestionably paved the way \nfor numerous local artists, collectors, \nand enthusiasts.

\nIn Justin Nuyda's realm of artistry, the \nallure and dream-like quality of his \nworks have consistently captivated \naudiences. With a distinct and refined \ngrace, Nuyda's brush breathes life into \nhis surreal creations, which are born \nfrom his visionary perspective. While \nabstraction was not a new concept in \nhis era, Nuyda left an indelible mark \nby shifting the primary entry point \nof perception in abstraction from \nsensation to cognition.

\nLastly, although he is mostly known \nfor his contributions to Philippine art \nhistory and theory, Alfredo Roces is \nalso considered a talented visual \nartist. In between chronicling the \nachievements of several National \nArtists in his writing assignments, \nRoces wields his artistic brush with \nfinesse. He honed his skills by studying \nFine Arts at the Arts Students League \nof New York and the University of \nNotre Dame. Over the years, his art \nhas undergone a steady evolution, \ntransitioning from abstract to \nfigurative expressions across various \nmediums. In recognition of his \ntalents, he earned the title of Artist of \nthe Year from the Art Association of \nthe Philippines in 1975.

\nIn the work at hand, one can see \nthat although all three artists have \ndeveloped and well-known styles, \nwhen placed together, they reveal to \nus a visual language unique to the \noverarching philosophy of art that \ndominated their area. The result is \na coherent microcosm of Filipino \nmodernism.
