Juna Luna, by the \nway, an Ilocano also, went along with French painters to \nBrittany. In a way, settling in Brittany in Northern France, \nin Plestin-les-Greves, must have felt like looking back to \nhis roots and rediscovering home from one who bears a \nprofound Rousseau-istic feeling for nature.<br /><br />\nIt was from the 1960s that Breton seascapes came to \npredominate his work. As the impressionists felt an \nendless fascination with the myriad effects of light on \nwater, so was he enamored with the view of the sea. For \nhim, the sea is the primary element, the inexhaustible \nsource of inspiration.<br /><br />\nIn this seascape, the bright warm tones of the red \nlighthouse and yellow streaked clouds provide a touch \nof warmth and contrast to this depiction of the cool \nBrittany coastline. Yet to capture the splendor of sky, \nwater and land, painting is not to create an illusionistic \nperspective but it is the creative invention, no less, of \npictorial space.
