His type of abstraction is intelligent, decisive, far-reaching, able to negotiate both the visual terrain as well as the interior state of the mind grappling  with his dramatic forms.  In this work, we are shown the elements that gesture at the colors Mondrian used in his powerful grid paintings, but here, they are shown in state of unrest  and disintegration, revealing the support of the wood.
