This rare sculpture of the National Artist answers this question by relocating his iconic  figures out of the grid of the painting onto the scaffolding of a cuboid shape of a sculpture.   Rooted on four pegs, the structure provides a rational basis for the figural shapes in their diagonal orientation as they gracefully balance themselves on the bars, akin to the unicyclist that has become one of Luz’s enduring images.
