In this painting, a human-peahen hybrid embraces a white stallion, comforting him for, after having served in mythologies as the beast that carried heroes for ages, he is fading from folklore. Together with the peahen, a pride of peafowl surrounds the long-forgotten beast of legend, consoling him as they, too, have been a part of men’s stories across civilizations for centuries and were forgotten just the same. A symbol of good luck, a Siamese cat sits in one corner, suggesting that while it is true that legends come and go, there still remains hope for the mythical creatures.\nFor years, Andres Barrioquinto is one of the prominent artists in the Philippines’ dynamic art scene. As he evolved as an artist, his works have graced art fairs, galleries and auction houses in Busan, Hong Kong, Jakarta, London, Manila, Singapore and Taipei. Recently, one of his old works, “The Chameleon” was licensed and copyrighted and its image will soon be seen in the newly constructed Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center of the Washington State University. The only Filipino artist given such distinction.","lot_group":"PAINTING","lot_details_html":"
Andres Barrioquinto (b.1975)
Goodbye Horses
signed and dated 2017 (lower right)
oil on canvas
60” x 96” (152 cm x 244 cm)
","alias":null,"hp":9500000,"bp":0.168,"isWithdrawn":0,"accounting_hp":9500000,"userBid":5926,"isPaid":0,"userId":22,"lot_status":"SOLD","isDone":1,"bid_history_id":null,"reserve_price":null,"hammer_price":11096000,"fav":0},"image":[{"id":37370,"img_url":"https://leongallery.sgp1.digitaloceanspaces.com/v2/auction/55/83/lot/101.jpg","isFeatured":1}]},"increment":[5500000,6000000,6500000,7000000,7500000,8000000,8500000,9000000,9500000,10000000,11000000,12000000,13000000,14000000,15000000,16000000,17000000,18000000,19000000,20000000],"prev":100,"next":102,"count_bid":0,"bid_history":[],"tokenExpired":1}
