As if to press home that point, Ang typically includes small, barely identifiable elements to suggest that the gaze of the viewer rise vertically up the canvas, rather than plunge deep within any implied corner of a real kitchen. Tables zigzag with square boxes within boxes, shifting in shape and color, more complicated than any kaleidoscope. Tables riddled with geometric shapes may be interpreted as doors or windows. No matter how many familiar objects pile up on the table — a restive configuration of linear and chromatic rhythms — Ang imposes an authoritative decorum over every busy detail. There is none of the extravagant overspill; the clutter is “contained” within a rigid system of “frames” and propped by uptight table legs, which in most cases number more than four and which, in turn, lead one to think that Ang is painting not just one but several tables to conjure a multiple exposure effect","lot_group":"PAINTING","lot_details_html":"
Ang Kiukok (1931-2005)
Still Life
signed and dated 1975 (upper left)
oil on canvas
36” x 36” (91 cm x 91 cm)
","alias":null,"hp":10000000,"bp":0.168,"isWithdrawn":0,"accounting_hp":10000000,"userBid":5926,"isPaid":0,"userId":22,"lot_status":"SOLD","isDone":1,"bid_history_id":null,"reserve_price":null,"hammer_price":11680000,"fav":0},"image":[{"id":37361,"img_url":"https://leongallery.sgp1.digitaloceanspaces.com/v2/auction/55/83/lot/80.jpg","isFeatured":1}]},"increment":[11000000,12000000,13000000,14000000,15000000,16000000,17000000,18000000,19000000,20000000],"prev":79,"next":81,"count_bid":0,"bid_history":[],"tokenExpired":1}
