In that well-received show, Abaño unveiled, as it were, her consummate skill in handling the woodcut medium, with all the work exhibited large scale portraits.  In this series, the faces aren’t mere direct reproductions of the sitter; rather, the artist takes into account the stories behind the subject, which she then translates, through her skillful hands, into her woodcuts.
