In typical Amorsolo fashion, the figure of a man riding a carabao is outlined against a characteristic glow as the subdued orange sunlight at the center of the canvas highlights nearby details. Philippine sunlight was a constant feature of Amorsolo’s work; he is believed to have painted only one rainy-day scene. Says Alfredo Roces in his book, Amorsolo (1975): “It was Amorsolo who discovered the quality of Philippine sunlight.
