A contemplative artist such as he who is stimulated by his surroundings often draws inspiration from imaginary sceneries. His surreal landscapes and seascapes, even his rock formations, are very dreamlike. His masterpieces also overflow with a variety of flora that can only be found in the lush imagination of a poet. In such pieces, we see Sansó’s mastery over his craft.

About his creative process, Sansó reveals: “First, I think of things in space, in light, and the objects spring out of the picture slowly.” His paintings have been described as belonging to an art genre called “poetic surrealism.” He experiments with diverse mediums and techniques, using dissonant colors and strange textures to exude an intense yet pleasant mood, as observed in the pieces at hand. His ability to mirror his sentiments in his works truly encapsulates the essence of his artistry. In 2006, Sansó was awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit for his significant contributions to Philippine art.
