While studying at the UP School of Fine Arts, he illustrated for comic magazines and is adept at figure drawing and bending colors to his own will. Moreover, many of his earlier paintings were landscapes and sceneries following the impressionist style, with calming qualities he then incorporated into his later abstract works.

In this untitled piece, Concepcion used a spectrum of vibrant hues and exemplified his fine-tuned brushwork, providing a poetic portrayal of his subject matter, emanating from within a wide array of emotions to be felt and interpreted by his viewers.
