Exploring the same themes for over four \ndecades, the tens of thousands of sketches, paintings, and studies \nare regarded as a masterful study of a subject sustained over an extended \nperiod, branching out as Olaza explored the themes in abstraction, \nfiguration, and a unique hybrid form.<br /><br />\nThese two Diaphanous pieces, both created in 2010, were among the \nworks created near the end of his career, and thus, they perfectly portray \nthe best of what the Diaphanous series can offer. Normally translucent \nand overlapping, these latter Diaphanous are more opaque and bright. His \nsensitivity for shapes had sharpened, as evidenced by the masterful way in \nwhich utilized shapes, colors, and form. <br /><br />\nIt is inevitable that an artist reaches the end of the inspiration their muse \nbestowed upon them. But yet, against all odds, Olazo’s Diaphanous \nmanages to explore the enormous breadth and intensity this vision \nprovides. With these pieces belonging to the latter part of his career, these \nDiaphanous pieces accumulate within them the obstinancy with which \nOlazo pursued this muse, an artistic inspiration that served the artist up \nuntil the end.
