Through the unconventional means of mismatching visual elements, Padua’s portraits are the epic high points of pop symbolism as he morphs the human figure to rearrange their figures – as though a collage, he mixes and matches their features to create a visually appealing visage that is both indecipherable and inciting.

With his 2022 Branded Series O, Padua mimics a collage as he utilizes cutouts to create the face. The entire face came from one photo, barring one eye which came from another. The woman’s hair too came from another cutout, bringing a sense of juxtaposition between realistic and cartoonish style. The plain white background emphasizes this mismatch and yet, Padua manages to make a cohesive piece out of these differing elements, an untouchable veneer of photographic realism and nostalgic collage art.
