He was a self- taught artist who learned painting by watching other artists and trying out their work. Paco’s relentless determination to master his craft led him to explore different mediums, such as crayons and watercolor, before settling with oil.<br /><br /> The sceneries he saw and his experiences during his several years of stay in the Visayas and Mindanao regions greatly influenced Paco’s art and connected him deeply to the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. His admiration for the southern tribes’ colorful attire, culture, and simple lifestyle was reflected in his subsequent paintings portraying the local folk, mother & child, market scenes, animals, and landscapes. Moreover, his sophisticated color sense, artistic passion, and determination all contributed to the formation of his distinguished art style.<br /><br /> After Paco’s years in the southern Philippine provinces, he returned to Manila. He established his own gallery in Mabini St. in the emerging tourist district of Ermita, joining the roster of the second generation of Mabini Artists. Here, he met and formed deep friendships with artists Roger San Miguel and Francisco Ello, with whom he painted and produced several interaction works.
