Concepcion utilizes his\nimpeccable understanding of colors to convey what shapes and\nforms would otherwise communicate in a figurative painting. As\npart of the new generation of painters that emerged from the progressive\npost-war 1960s, Concepcion portrays tranquility and chaos through\ndeliberate brush strokes and insightful color palettes, as is seen in these\nworks.

In his 1966 Euphonia Di Mezzanotte (Midnight Euphony), Concepcion's\nmasterful use of dark muted colors in shades of black, gray, and red creates\na claustrophobic image. The sporadic burst of \"light\" as Concepcion\nportrays it draws the viewer's eyes to it like a moth to a flame and creates\nan illusion that the painting portrays light filtering in a pitch-black room\nthrough a window. It points out just as many questions as it did answers\nwhich is a particular specialty of Concepcion.

His 1978 work, while more figurative than his Midnight Euphony,\nfollows Concepcion’s innate sense of colors. With brighter and more\nvivid colors, this work makes exceptional use of the fluidity of watercolor\nas Concepcion lets the colors bleed into each other while he portrays\na mountain and a beach. It is calm, reminiscent of a warm and hazy\nsummer afternoon on the beach.

His works, whether vibrant or muted, invite genuine introspection from\nthe viewers. They implore them to look closer and bask them in silence\nas they ponder on the questions the works present.
