In 1983, he introduced this groundbreaking\nseries to the public through a solo exhibition titled “New\nWorks” at The Luz Gallery.

\nIn Cid Reyes’ monograph on the artist, Patricia Tria Olazo,\nRomulo Olazo's wife, sheds light on the development of\nhis artistic style, noting, “Olazo’s paintings take on an\nopaque quality with the use of mixed media, acrylic, and\noil on canvas.”

\nThe success of Olazo's Diaphanous Series, both locally\nand internationally, prompted him to seek new artistic\nhorizons with the Untitled works. It is evident in these\npieces that Olazo was driven by a desire to avoid creative\nstagnation and push beyond his comfort zone.

\nUntitled, reflects Olazo's artistic progression. While\nmaintaining the irregular forms characteristic of the\nDiaphanous Series, Olazo employs a much more bold\nuse of pigments as seen in the overarching use of grey\nin the work. Such an approach emphasizes the inherent\nopacity the artist has developed throughout his artistic\ncareer.
