However, his artistic repertoire extends beyond mere historical portrayal; he offers a vibrant and satirical interpretation of Philippine societal dynamics.

\nTorres's work is more than just a reflection of history; it is a commentary on the complex interplay of social forces that have shaped Philippine society. With each brushstroke, he invites viewers to delve deeper into the intricacies of Philippine history and culture, offering a fresh perspective on the past while shedding light on the present.

In this piece, Torres does not only look at a significant moment in our history, but a historical work of art as well. El Asesinato del Gobernador Fernando Bustamante y su Hijo or The Assasination of Governor Fernando Bustamante and Son is undoubtedly among the most iconic works of art in Filipino history. Its story is not only one about an event that shaped our nation, but its creator Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, was among the very first Filipinos to truly showcase local talent on the international stage. Here, Torres echoes the social and political underpinnings that birthed the original 19th century work. In his usual style, the artist infuses his piece with contemporary motifs and humor, weaving together a much more diverse cast as a way to reflect not only the complexity of our situation, but also the nuances that have come out of our understanding of the human condition and society at large.
