Angel Cacnio is among the many who gave his fresh twist to this classic image.

One of the country’s esteemed visual artists, Cacnio transforms the everyday Filipino scenes into a masterpiece using vibrant colors, uninhibited brush strokes, and an intimate understanding of light and shadows. With this lot entitled Mag-Ina, he took the image of mother and child and gave it a distinct Filipino angle. Imbued with warm bright colors, this rendition is dominated with a sincerity and joy that made the work distinctive.
