The ethnographical/\nhistorical costume plates by Bayot, printed by Lemercier,\nare particularly fine; they consist of a single group portrait\nof Villabos, Legaspi and Magellan, 6 ethnographical\nportraits and three costume plates, all of inhabitants of\nthe Philippines. The maps include the large general map\nof the Philippines, followed by detailed maps and plans\nof various locations within the islands, ending with a plan\nof Manila, the sheet music is titled \"Comintang de la\nConquista\".\nThis is the first in a three-volume work of Jean Mallat, a\ndoctor of medicine who served as an agent for the French\nbusiness interest in the Philippines. Mallat was primarily\ninvolved in promoting french interest in Basilan Island\nin Mindanao.
