While initially producing realist art aligned with the traditional principles of the Amorsolo School, this multitalented artist refused to be confined to a single genre. As time passed and San Miguel resided in Mabini, his artistic preferences underwent an evolution, with his conservative inclinations gradually shifting towards neo-realism and figurative expressionism.

What distinguishes San Miguel’s work is its intriguing and enigmatic quality. His creations radiate a captivating lightness, whether in his conservative pieces or his abstract works, all of which bear the strong essence of Filipino character. San Miguel’s creative genius is evident not only in his diverse choice of styles but also in his ability to imbue his art with a profound aesthetic adventurousness. Although modest in nature, San Miguel expresses his artistic voice unreservedly, epitomizing the essence of a quintessential artist.
