These figures meld with each other and blend seamlessly with the entirety of the composition, signifying Layug’s sense of inner calm and harmonious concordance with the world around him. His dynamic images that throb with every gaze are achieved through his fluid and seemingly spontaneous strokes. The balanced interplay of all elements in the canvas comes out as a compelling indicator of the beauty of brevity and the ethereal quality of the here and now, a genuine connectedness with and composure within one’s inner self void of any troubling anxieties that the future beholds.

With over three decades of painting, Layug’s creative praxis revolves around a celebration of the gift of being in the present, of artistic freedom, and of one’s journey toward self-discovery.

In May 2023, Layug wrapped up his latest solo exhibition, titled Enter the Dreamscape, a joint project of Leon Gallery International and DF Art Agency.
