As an artist at the period of political turmoil,\nhe sought an expression imbued with nationalist fervor\nand sociological agenda. For Kiukok, the people in his\nart are victims of a society that is being exploited and\ntormented. He captured in his canvas the terror and\ntrepidation of the times. Aside from his cubist works,\nKiukok also created pieces in ink-on-paper. His paintings\nindeed proves his expertise in color, pictorial distortion,\nand a sense of scale; the sketches demonstrate the\nNational Artist’s masterful draftsmanship.
