The seemingly random colors, textures, patterns, and shapes are soon directed to their proper predestined positions by virtue of Alcuaz's deft and meticulous eye for composition. As this work shows, Alcuaz had moved beyond orthodox Cubism and Abstraction, though it had been invaluable to his development. For him, the opportunity to travel the world constituted but one step on the road towards a more personal art form entirely detached from the visible world. What makes Alcuaz's abstractions uniquely striking is not merely its unrestrained directness, but its ability to find harmony amidst chaos.
